Terms and Conditions for Tip Givers

1. Purpose of the Platform:

TiPiT enables guests (referred to as “you” or “the tip giver”) to give voluntary digital tips to registered workers, such as guides or service staff, via a personal QR code or payment link. These tips are a gesture of appreciation and are not a payment for a contractual service.

2. How Tipping Works

  • You scan a QR code or click a personal link.
  • You choose a tip amount (e.g. R50).
  • A service fee of 10% is automatically added to your selected tip (e.g. R50 tip → R55 total charge).
  • The tip is processed securely via Stripe.
  • After deduction of all fees, the remaining tip is credited to the worker’s TiPiT balance. The amount you select is the tip for the worker. The fee is added on top – not deducted from the worker.

3. No Refunds

Tips are considered voluntary and non-refundable. Since they are not linked to a contractual service, they are treated as a gift. In rare cases of technical errors or fraud, refunds may be issued at TiPiT’s discretion.

4. Fees and Wildlife Contribution

A service fee is charged on top of each tip. This covers platform operations, maintenance and payment processing costs. As part of this fee, TiPiT donates a fixed portion to trusted wildlife conservation partners in South Africa. TiPiT selects and regularly reviews the partner organisations it supports. 5. Payment Processing

Payments are processed by Stripe, an international PCI-compliant payment provider. TiPiT does not store your credit card information. For security and compliance, Stripe may process your personal data (e.g. name, email, country).

6. Data Privacy

Your personal data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Only essential data (e.g. email, transaction details) is processed and not shared with third parties for marketing.

7. No Obligation or Commercial Agreement

Giving a tip does not create a service contract or employment relationship between you and the worker. It is a voluntary gift.

8. Misuse and Fraud Prevention

TiPiT reserves the right to investigate and reverse transactions in cases of fraudulent use, misuse of the platform, or suspicious patterns. Abuse of the system may result in blocked access or legal action.

9. Changes to Terms

TiPiT may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated on the platform.

10. Applicable Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland.

While we make every effort to build and optimize TiPiT, we cannot be held liable for any errors, disruptions, or outcomes resulting from its use. Transactions and donation transfers may incur additional fees, which are the responsibility of the user. TiPiT shall not be held liable for any associated costs, fees, or taxes. Furthermore, platform updates and modifications may occur without prior notice.
